When a friend or colleague asks me "Which laptop should I buy?" I won't even think of making a recommendation until we've gone through this checklist. That much choice can be paralyzing, which is why it helps to go through the specs carefully. If you've shopped for a laptop lately, you know that there are hundreds, maybe thousands of options available from OEMs large and small.
PCs have experienced a renaissance of sorts in the pandemic era, which means more and more of us are looking at laptops as a primary work and school device instead of something that gets occasional use. Which is why PC makers (including Apple) continue to sell more than a hundred million portable PCs and MacBooks every year. For those occasions, only an honest-to-goodness PC running Windows or MacOS will do. New year, new laptop? These are the devices that should be at or near the top of your shortlist.īut those pocket-sized miracles only go so far, and sometimes even stepping up from a smartphone to an iPad or a Chromebook isn't enough to accomplish a particularly demanding task. This is not currently under consideration but has often been the number one request outside of RTSP (which would enable this capability and is intended for the future). But we aren’t ignoring it and we appreciate your patience. It will be a pretty tricky feature so we’ve been looking into methods for it and that’s why we haven’t given a super firm answer or made promises for this one yet. This is something that we’ve been discussing internally. I don’t have an ETA at this point since we’re still in this stage and balancing things we’re working on (such as webRTC to improve streaming with Alexa and Google Assistant).
